Movie review: Resident Evil Degeneration

Just a background summary of what the Resident Evil 2 series is all about. Raccoon city was originally infested by zombies due to the company named Umbrella which created drugs that causes people to turn into zombies. 2 Lead characters named Leon Kennedy, a rookie cop and Claire Redfield a civilian which was the sister of Chris Redfield a former STAR member in the station meet and fight side by side in the midst of the chaos of rampaging zombies in Raccoon city. When I first heard about this movie I was really thrilled to know that the ones playing in it will be Leon and Claire. The original pair in the game Resident Evil 2. I have played RE2 and witnessed the succeeding RE series that came after that up until RE4. The story begins after the incident in RE2 where Leon already became a special secret agent and Claire being an activist against a new Drug company. And due to circumstances both of them meet again unexpectedly. As usual umbrella corp still has some leftovers that causes a new zombie outbreak in the city. The movie is good since even people who doesn't know anything about the RE series can easily relate. For fans of course it's an additional hype especially fans of RE2. Anyway overall i would give the movie a 7/10. One thing I disliked in the movie is the new additional poIice woman character they added as a semi fling/love interest for Leon. Especially in the movie it seemed they had something going on and gave away a whole different personality of Leon(in which I didn't think he was in the previous RE series). Graphics of the movie is great, it's really detailed to the pores of the skin. Claire looked great in this CG movie but Leon looked a bit different especially his face. I liked the CG of Leon in RE4 a whole lot better than his CG here in the movie( He looks angry all the time XD). |
